We have deliberated, cogitated, digested and come to our conclusion on what wines to recommend to accompany your Christmas Dinner this year (some of which we have earmarked for ourselves!)

🦃 Classic Roast Turkey Dinner

  • Pinot Noir (Red) – Light-bodied with cranberry and cherry notes with gentle spice that complements turkey and stuffing.
    • Paparuda Pinot Noir, Romania
    • Scheid District 7 Pinot Noir, USA

    • Icare Chardonnay, France
    • Babylonstoren Chardonnay, South Africa
  • Beaujolais-Villages or Cru Beaujolais – Juicy and vibrant with low tannins that make it ideal with poultry and cranberry.

  • Riesling (Off-Dry) – The touch of sweetness balances sweet glazes and smoky edges.
    • Dr Loosen Estate Bernkasteler Lay Riesling, Germany
    • Dopff & Irion Riesling, Alsace, France
  • Zinfandel – Bold fruit, a bit of spice and higher alcohol make it a festive red that loves sweet-savoury meats.

  • Rosé Champagne – Adds sparkle and refreshes the palate beautifully with salty, glazed meats.
    • Baron de Beaupre Rose Brut, Champagne, France
    • Henriet Bazin Rosé Grand Cru, Champagne, France

  • Syrah/Shiraz – Great for spiced or herbed meats with peppery character and dark fruit.

    • Chateau Vincens Origine Malbec, Cahors, France

🍄 Mushroom Wellington or Nut Roast

  • Pinot Noir – Earthy enough to match mushrooms and root veg.
    • Divin 0.0 Pinot Noir, Loire, France
    • Villa Wolf Pinot Noir, Pfalz, Germany
  • Chenin Blanc or Viognier – Floral and textured whites that pair well with savoury vegetarian dishes.
    • The Tin Mine White, Zevenwacht, South Africa
